A personal message from Tony Fields

Whether it's making sure visitors and citizens feel welcome in the City of Natchez or making tough decisions and ensuring delivery of fundamental services, Ernest "Tony" Fields is making positive change in the lives of his constituents. In his first term as Alderman of the Fantastic Fourth Ward, Fields represents the most diverse and vibrant community in Natchez, MS.

Fields is a native of Natchez. He is the son of Ellen Earls and the late Ernest "Buster" Fields, Jr. He is married to Eckwanise Fields of Natchez. They have three children Aniyah, Samya, and Ernest "Lil Tony" Fields IV.

When Tony was only seven years old, he was asked by former mayor Tony Byrne to be an ambassador for the City of Natchez by performing at the World's Fair in New Orleans, LA.

Tony dutifully serves his constituents with character and dignity in and out of the board room. Alderman Fields is chairman of the Health & Utilities Committee for the city. Through his experience with the National League of Cities, Alderman Fields initiated the enrollment of the City of Natchez in the Prescription Drug Discount Card Program sponsored by CVS Caremark. He is also a member of the Police & Traffic Committee and the Fire Committee. In his first term, the Fantastic Fourth Ward has received significant efforts in repaving of streets, new business openings, and infrastructure improvements. Tony has worked passionately to help lead the charge against dilapidated buildings, eliminating overgrowth on properties, and supporting programs for the youth and elderly. Alderman Fields was instrumental in the "Vote Yes for Recreation" campaign which was a collaborative effort between the city, county, and public school system. In 2008, Alderman Fields partnered with the Natchez Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta to sponsor a Financial Empowerment Seminar presented by the Alcorn State University Extension Program for the citizens of Natchez.

Tony is a member of Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church where he serves as Minister of Music. Zion Chapels Christmas Musical is one of Natchez's most sought after events. He is also the South Mississippi Conference Music director for the 8th District of the A.M.E. Church. Tony is a member of the Alcorn State University Alumni Association. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. and he serves the Natchez Alumni Chapter as Exchequer.

Tony serves on the Board of Directors for the Natchez Little Theatre. He is employed by the Natchez-Adams School District as Assistant Principal of Frazier Primary School.

Tony is a 1994 graduate of Natchez High School. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from Alcorn State University and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Jackson State University.
