Grants and Cultural Resource Department
The Grants and Cultural Resources Department coordinates federal, state, and private foundation grants for the City of Natchez and is responsible for administration and application of grants by the City. We also ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding funding from grants and appropriations. This department serves as cultural resource liaison and monitor for the City by working with various local and state agencies including Mississippi Department of Archives and History and the National Park Service.
Examples of services include, but are not limited to:
- Coordination of grants and cultural resource projects for Natchez
- Developing grant proposals in conjunction with City officials, departments, and staff members
- Monitoring of compliance issues for grants in progress
- Preparation of reports and evaluations and for yearly city and federal audits
- Oversight and direction for projects pertaining to cultural resource components
Current and ongoing project for 2009-2010 include:
- CDBG Public Facilities Project
- Management of the Forks of the Road Slave Market Site
- Funding and grants management for the Natchez Trails Project
- Administrative support for the Guardian Shelter for Battered Women
- Police and Fire Grants
- Homeland Security, FEMA, and MEMA Municipal Grants
